Red Pandas
Ailurus fulgens
While these distinctive reddish-brown furred mammals are referred to as pandas, thought to be more closely related to raccoons and coatis than to giant pandas. These skilled climbers usually sleep in trees, using their long ringed tails for balance, and to cover themselves for warmth in the winter.
Red pandas are found in the mountain forests of the Himalayas, in countries such as India and China.
They either live alone or in small family groups, having up to four young at a time.
